Prior to starting their business, JJ and Sarah had worked together for years helping friends and family with design projects before eventually turning their passion into their profession. Since opening their doors in 2017 as Rustic Charm Design, their style has evolved to encompass so much more than the modern farmhouse look that got them off the ground. After 5 years, Rustic Charm Design was ready for a “glow-up” and RCD Interiors was born.
Their recent work really showcases how their style has grown and evolved. Sarah and JJ have honed their design skills over the years and have become experts at creating designs to fit the unique needs of each of their clients. You may have seen their work featured in several Parade of Homes award-winning models throughout the triangle over the years. From model homes to residential refreshes, the RCD team is confident that they can tackle any project, big or small.

Growing up, Sarah dreamed of one day being an interior designer. After years of teaching elementary school and working as a stay-at-home-mom, she finally made that dream a reality when she and JJ started their interior design business in 2017.
Sarah has lived in NC since 2007, but she is originally from upstate New York. When she’s not designing homes you can find her out and about with her friends, driving her two kiddos around, or hanging at home with her lovable golden retriever, Huckleberry.
JJ THOMPSON

JJ is originally from northern PA and made her way down to North Carolina in 2002. Though she had aspirations of interior design from a young age, she started out as a teacher and a training manager before staying home with her daughter. Eventually JJ broke into the design world by staging model homes for a short time until she joined forces with Sarah to create the business they now share together.
When JJ’s not in her garden or at the lake she can be found enjoying quality time with her daughter… and her adorable pup, Finley.
